You’re Not Good Enough Book Tag

I saw this tag over at Lost in a Story and I thought it looked like fun for a Monday morning! The rules are that you choose thirty characters from books (or TV I suppose if the mood strikes you) and RANDOMLY choose two names from that list for each question. I numbered my list and then used a random number generator to pick my two options so that I wouldn’t be tempted to be biased.

You only have one more spot on your Spelling Bee team – who would you pick to complete your team?

Scarlett (Caraval) and Paige (The Bone Season)

As much as I hate Scarlett, I think I’d have to pick her. If I needed someone’s booty kicked and I had to choose between the two I’d pick Paige hands down. Or even just to go out for drinks. But a spelling bee? I don’t think she’d be the top of the class.

Both characters want to kill you – which one would you kill first so you have a better chance of surviving?

Feyre (ACOMAF) and John May (Bryant and May Mysteries)

Interesting options. Feyre would kill me if she felt threatened but I think May, if he had to, would be able to kill me more effectively. I think I’d off Feyre first. May could probably be talked around.

You’re on the bachelor/bachelorette and you’re down to these two characters – which one are you going to give your rose to?

Julia Grey (Lady Julia Grey Mysteries) and Celaena (Throne of Glass)

Hands down Julia Grey. She is smart, funny, has vast resources, and has a very organized mind. Celaena is a dress obsessed assassin. How is this difficult?

You’ve been chosen for The Hunger Games – who would most likely volunteer in your place?

Will (The Infernal Devices) and Dorian (Throne of Glass)

Most definitely Dorian. He is a stand up kind of guy, it seems, and would feel obligated to volunteer even if he didn’t actually desire to. Will wouldn’t give a horse’s backside about it.

You’ve stranded on an island. Which character would you sacrifice to engage in cannibalism?

Karou (Daughter of Smoke and Bone) and Alucard (Shades of Magic)

Huh. Interesting. I intensely dislike Karou so I’d want to off her first just to get away from her. However, she could be useful in getting off the island. Alucard would be better company but would his piratey ways be of assistance of escaping? I’d probably off Karou just because I don’t like her. I’m petty that way.

You’re the next DC/Marvel superhero (with your own TV show, of course) – who is your sidekick?

Katsa (Graceling) and Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles)

Katsa, no competition. She is one bad ass bitch. She would probably get annoyed because I’m slower and weaker but I’d definitely win more fights with her at my side.

You’re a manager of an avocado admiring company – who would you fire for lack of communication skills?

Jon Snow (A Song of Fire and Ice) and Queen Victoria (Victoria)

I would fire Jon Snow in a heartbeat. I love him (did anyone else get excited over lats night’s GoT episode?) and he is a fantastic character but, let’s face it, his communication skills are lacking.

You’ve just finished a book in which your favourite character dies – which character is most likely to comfort you?

Beatrix Potter (The Cottage Tales of Beatrix Potter) and Kristin (Catteni series by Anne McCaffrey)

That one is a bit difficult. Both of them are fairly no nonsense characters and would, I think, been more focused on moving on and making the best of things than anything else. I’m going to go with Beatrix, she seems like she would be a little more soft hearted and maybe offer me cakes and tea!

Ugh, it’s high school. Who would most likely be part of the popular clique?

Dorian Grey (The Picture of Dorian Grey) and Lila Bard (Shades of Magic trilogy)

Huh. Interesting comparison. Dorian would charm his way in with money and panache while Lila would try to stay more in the background and avoid people…unless picking their pocket. Dorian wins this round!

The day has arrived; you’ve finally a year older! Who would have the nerve to forget your birthday?

Darrow (Red Rising)  and Cimorene (Searching for Dragons)

Darrow. Is any kind of explanation needed?

You’ve just found an upcoming Booktube star. Who would it most likely be?

Veronica Speedwell (The Veronica Speedwell Mysteries) and Warden (The Bone Season)

I don’t think either of them would be ANY good at this. Speedwell would have no patience for that, she is far too practical. Warden would only consider it if somehow it furthered his efforts in the fight against the Rephaim.

Sleepover time! Unfortunately, you can only invite one person – who would you invite?

Lestat (The Vampire Lestat) and Bitterblue (Bitterblue)

Gut says Bitterblue because she, you know, would be less likely to kill me. However, Lestat would be far more entertaining if you could convince him you were not a snack. Let’s live on the edge and invite Lestat. Could be fun.

Bam, you’re pregnant. Who’s the parent?

Rhysand (A Court of Mist and Fury) and Sevro (Red Rising)

Rhy. Hello. As long as it is ACOMAF Rhy and not ACOWAR Rhy. ACOWAR Rhy is a pussy and that is just no fun.

You’ve just written a super important text. Who would see it, but not reply?

Bryant (The Bryant and May Mysteries) and Jax (The Bone Season)

Jax. Bryant would have lost his phone or fried it or something long before anyone ever tried to text him. I’m not even sure he know how to use a cell phone, honestly. Jax would look at it and, unless you could do something for him, promptly ignore you.

You’ve just woken up and it’s time for breakfast. Your mom or dad has been replaced by… who?!

Jest (Heartless) and Kell (Shades of Magic)

Kell, just because Jest would scare me. I loved his character but I always pictured him slightly as, well, a clown. I hate clowns. Especially the elaborate hats. NOPENOPENOPE.

That is it for my Monday morning amusement! This was an interesting little tag and fun. If you want to do it leave your link with your answers in the comments! I’d love to see them. Have a beautiful week, everybody.
