WWW Wednesday – October 18

WWWWednesday

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.

The three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

“The only problem is that it’s difficult to imagine something entirely new. We use the words and definitions of the past to shape our ideas. Something that is genuinely the next evolutionary step is unlikely to resemble anything we can imagine.”

The Burning Page (The Invisible Library #3) by Genevieve Cogman. I have been in such a reading funk for probably two or three months now. I pick up books, read them, but nothing has really sucked me in, you know? But, when I saw that my library had this book in yesterday I went and picked it up and it sucked me in within just a couple pages. I do not want to put it down! Cogman’s writing is intelligent and witty and just what I needed.

I am also still reading Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper #1) by Kerri Maniscalco. It is a good book but the YA genre was tickling me funny so I am putting it down for a couple days.

What did you recently finish reading?

Well, lets be honest here, I haven’t finished a book in well over a week now. As I mentioned above, bit of a reading funk. Nothing has really sucked me in lately. I’m sure I will finish The Burning Page soon. Even as I sit here typing I’m giving it the eyeball.

It is really frustrating picking up books I think I’ll love and then not feeling the drive to actually read them. Maybe I’ve just been grabbing the wrong genres lately, I don’t know. Just hope to have the mojo back soon.

What do you think you’ll read next?

“I’m sorry.” His voice is slurred and rough. “But you see, I should have been dead for nearly two hundred years. Instead, by chance, I was found by a curse and was turned into this. Not human, not immortals, but some cruel melding of the two. I endured two centuries of horrors…”

Black Bird of the Gallows by Meg Kassel. This one sounds a little creepy, which is great, and like a little bit of a love story. Not always my favorite but when done correctly it can be pretty entertaining. I’m still on a fence about this book but we’ll see. Halloween is coming and I need a bit of creepy and I can’t find a horror/thriller that is ringing my bells at the moment.

That is my current reading, or lack there of. What are you reading? Any good recommendations?

  1. Ooh like the look of Blackbird. I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump too but I would be very tempted by that cover.

I literally just bought Burning Page in the Amazon sale last week but have still to read book 2 in the series. I hope you enjoy.

    1. In my opinion, the second book was a let down after The Invisible Library, but, Burning Page is more than making up for it. Hope you love it!

Doesn’t that Blackbird cover call to you? It catches my eye every single time. I’m tempted to buy it just to put it on my shelf.
