WWW Wednesday – January 3

WWWWednesday

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.

The three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

In the kingdom of Sempera, time is currency—extracted from blood, bound to iron, and consumed to add time to one’s own lifespan. The rich aristocracy, like the Gerlings, tax the poor to the hilt, extending their own lives by centuries.

Everless (Untitled #1) by Sara Holland. I bought this book on a whim. I went into the store looking for a notebook and Black Bird of the Gallows and left with Everless. So far it is a good impulse purchase. The writing is flowing well and the story setup happens fairly quickly so you aren’t sitting around for chapter after chapter getting all of the background information. Looking forward to reading more of this one.

Ash Princess (Untitled Trilogy #1) by Laura Sebastian (eARC). I just finished this book last night and I’m still a little waffly about it. Was it good? Sure it was…at least the second half. But at the same time it was bad. How does that work? How can a book be both good and bad? I’m still trying to sort this out.

What do you think you’ll read next?

“I’m sick to death of lords and kings and emperors. What do they do but play games and let their people pay the price in blood?”

Forest of a Thousand Lanterns (Rise of the Empress #1) by Julie C. Dao. I just put a hold on this book with my local library and I’m hoping I’ll be able to go pick it up tomorrow. Admittedly I am completely surprised that they have it as they often don’t get newer releases in unless it is a big name. Really looking forward to this one.

  1. I’m glad you’re liking Everless so far; I get my copy tomorrow and the wait is killing me. I do really want to hear your thoughts about Ash Princess. The little reviews have read have been glowing reviews, but I always love to read the other spectrum of opinions 🙂

      1. I think I will 🙂 When I read the first couple chapters a long time ago, I had an inkling that I would love it. Hopefully the feeling is right. Can’t wait to see what you think of it!
