WWW Wednesday – January 24

WWWWednesday

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.

The three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

“If I cannot be better than them, I will become so much worse.”

The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air #1) by Holly Black. Yeah, I just started on this one. I have to admit the first chapter didn’t pull me in but can’t judge by the first chapter alone. So many people have had positive comments about this book so I have hope. We’ll see.

Nahri has never believed in magic. Certainly, she has power; on the streets of eighteenth-century Cairo, she’s a con woman of unsurpassed talent. But she knows better than anyone that the trades she uses to get by—palm readings, zars, and a mysterious gift for healing—are all tricks, both the means to the delightful end of swindling Ottoman nobles and a reliable way to survive.

The City of Brass (The Daevabad Trilogy #1) by S.A. Chakraborty. I just finished with this one and, I’ll be honest, I am still completely on a fence about it. Great chunks of this book bored me to death or annoyed me but man oh man that ending more than made up for any prior annoyance. Holy moly!

“Sometimes, little one, it’s best if the worlds think you a little mad.”

Iron Gold (Red Rising Saga #4) by Pierce Brown. I want to snag this one off of my shelf so badly right now. But, I have already started on another book and I try not to read two at once. A physical copy and an audiobook at the same time, sure, but not two physical copies. My brain gets it all mixed up. Soon, my precious. Soon.

That is all this week! Have any of you read Iron Gold yet? What did you think? I am itching to turn the pages of that one.

  1. I felt the same way about the first few chapters of The Cruel Prince. It really picks up afterwards though!

I’m so interested in City of Brass, but there are such mixed reviews all over the internet.

    1. I’m glad it is not just me who felt like the beginning of The Cruel Prince was a little slow. All of the reviews of it are glowing so I just had to assume that it picks up.

The City of Brass is both good and bad. The beginning if great and highly entertaining. The middle gets a bit dull and, well, irritating. But that ending! My review for it is coming up tomorrow but I will say that the ending makes the slow/annoying middle worth it.
