I’ve noticed many people talking about how long January seemed to them. I must have missed that boat because for me it was another month that went flying by at the speed of sound. However, I did get a lot of reading and reading related things done over the past month. Lets take a look back at January 2018 here on Literary Weaponry.

Writing
In January I have been working to finish editing the book I wrote this past NaNoWriMo. I merely have a bit of formatting left to do and then I plan to put it up on the Amazon Publishing platform. I’m a bit nervous as the story is a little off brand for me but I worked hard on it and am looking forward to sharing it. Now if only I could think of an appropriate title.
This month I also have been working on the notes and general outline for my next book. The book is planned as an adult fantasy featuring a strong, powerful, bisexual female lead. I am really looking forward to getting started on the first draft as the story itself has been brewing in my head for some time.
Personal Life
I feel like part of being a successful blogging is letting people in on your personal life from time to time. We aren’t just the book we read, we are people with lives outside of the literary world.
In January, I unfortunately had to say goodbye to my dog Patrick. He had been with the family for seven years and passed away after a short battle with cancer. We noticed him taking ill in mid December and he left us the second week of January. He was very uncomfortable and unhappy at the end so I’m glad he isn’t suffering anymore but at the same time I miss him a great deal. He had been with me through a lot in my life and it has been hard letting go.
After a great deal of discussion with my husband, we chose to get another dog. Not only for him and I but for our daughter who was having a tough time after Patrick passed. So, to our family we added the puppy Poe. He was eight weeks old when we brought him home and he is growing so fast. As hoped, he has been a great help to my girl and she is not longer hurting so much over her Pat-Pat. While house training Poe has certainly been a frustration he is making himself a part of the family with his fluffy puppy fur and not-so-quiet demands for snuggles.
That has been January here on Literary Weaponry. What have you all been reading and doing? Know of any books you think I’d like? Let me know in the comments!
I’m so sorry to hear about your dog. They’re members of the family and it’s tough when they pass away. Your new pup is super cute though! Good luck with training him.

Patrick was an absolutely amazing dog. Poe has a lot of live up to but he certainly has the cute puppy face thing down pat.

So sorry to hear about your dog. It’s always tough to lose a beloved pet. Your new puppy is very cute. We have a german shepherd/labrador cross who is two and a half years old now. She was a nightmare puppy, but now she is such a great part of the family.
