WWW Wednesday – February 14

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.

The three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

“Knowledge is a rug of a certain size, and the world is larger. It’s not what remains uncovered at the edges that should worry you, rather what is swept beneath.”

Red Sister (Book of the Ancestor #1) by Mark Lawrence. I’m having a really hard time getting into this book. Everyone seems so damn full of themselves, it is irritating. Outside of the irritating overconfidence, I’m about 25% in and I feel like nothing of consequence has happened yet, just a bunch of location changes. I’m going to stick with it because there has to be a good reason people love it but right now I’m just annoyed.

What did you recently finish reading?

“Emma Gladstone had learned a few hard lessons by the age of two-and-twenty. Charming princes weren’t always what they seemed. Shining armor went out of fashion with the Crusades. And if fairy godmothers existed, hers was running several years late. Most of the time, a girl needed to rescue herself.”

The Duchess Deal (Girl Meets Duke #1) by Tessa Dare. I read this for my annual Valentine’s Day romance review. You know, I actually enjoyed it. There is nothing I enjoy more (besides sleep) when I’m sick than curling up with a book that requires zero thought and this filled the bill. It made me laugh and held my attention. Can’t complain.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Eh. I don’t know. I’m still under the weather and have some things on my mind which usually leads to a reading slump. I’ll get back to you on this one.

What have you been reading? Any tips for avoiding a reading slump that you feel coming?
