Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week they provide a topic and you are free to use that topic and/or variations of that topic to make your top ten list. You don’t have to do all ten. Instead you can do three, five, fifteen, whatever you want. A full list of the weekly themes can be found here.
This week’s theme is Favorite Book Quotes. I’m not usually the kind of person that gets pulled in by a quote but I’ll give it a go.
“She was bold. She was brave. She was cunning. And she was going to come out of this triumphant – no matter the cost.”
Perhaps not a favorite quote but this one really stood out to me while reading Legendary (Caraval #2) by Stephanie Garber.
“Are you you without your memories? If not, who do you become?”
This book may have not been a winner with everyone but this line really stood out to me. Invictus by Ryan Graudin
“It was cruel. Like opening a birdcage to let the bird fly out, whilst all the while it’s tethered by the leg, and freedom is only an illusion.”
There are a lot of wonderful quotes in Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer #1) by Laini Taylor but I think this is one that speaks the loudest.
“I will die. You will die. We will all die and the universe will carry on without care. All that we have is that shout into the wind – how we live. How we go. And how we stand before we fall.”
Golden Son by Pierce Brown is one of my favorite books. This quote really resonates with me and pushes me to work when I lose my motivation and will.
“Words have no power to impress the mind without the exquisite horror of their reality.” -Edgar Allan Poe
“The only means of strengthening one’s intellect is to make up one’s mind about nothing, to let the mind be a thoroughfare for all thoughts.” -John Keats
“Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts.” – Charles Dickens
“It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.” – Aristotle
I did a mix of classic and modern with this post. Honestly, I could have done the entire second section in Poe and would have been perfectly content. He had an amazing if tortured mind. What are some of your favorite quotes?
