WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.
The three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
What are you currently reading?
“They celebrate love as though it’s power, even though it has killed far more humans than I ever have.”
To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo. I picked this book up almost immediately after I got it in the mail yesterday. The early reviews were screaming about it so I was anxious to get a start on it. So far, not all that impressed but I’m not all that far in. We’ll see how the rest of the book goes.
“You wanted to feel alive, right? It doesn’t matter if you’re monster or human. Living hurts.”
This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity #1) by Victoria Schwab . I’m giving this one a shot as audio through the Libby app. I loved Schwab’s ADSOM series so I had high hopes picking up this book. So far, it is a little more on the “young” spectrum of YA for me but the narrator is great so I’ll keep going.
What did you recently finish reading?
“A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.”
Legendary (Caraval #2) by Stephanie Garber. After I finished the first book in this series, Caraval, I had absolutely no intention of picking up the second book. You know what? I’m so very glad I did. The full review is coming on March 9th, check it out!
What do you think you’ll read next?
I think that after I finish To Kill a Kingdom I’m going to take a little reading break. I’m starting to get the burnt out feeling and I don’t want it to develop into a full blown slump. Better to take a few days and get yourself together, right? At least that is what I am telling myself.
What are you reading? Anything good I should check out?
I want to read Legendary so bad. I am looking forward to your review. 🙂

I hope you enjoy it. It is one of the few glowingly positive reviews I have done which surprised the heck out of me.

Yeah sadly I gave up on To Kill a Kindgom halfway through; it started out really good for me, but then the plot stalled and I just didn’t think the romance was needed. But I’m stoked for your review about Legendary (possibly funny snarky words?) 🙂

I’m about to throw in the towel for To Kill a Kingdom. It is so dull and predictable and all of the characters are limp as wet noodles. Trying to hit at least 50% on it though. I paid for the darn book I’m at least going to get that far in it. Hah!

Oh man I’m glad I’m not alone! Yeah it started out really good, but yeah with where you’re at, they’ve gotten their dumb quest thing started
it was annoying

I’m 3/4 through the book now and am still just so irritated with it. This “quest” thing is a trial of my patience. And OF COURSE she falls for our good boy prince. OF COURSE! 900% annoyed. I was shouting at it last night while reading.

Right? Even though it seems to be a retelling of The Little Mermaid, I think the story didn’t need a romance like what was developing. If you do a review, I can’t wait to read it 🙂

I am SO jealous that you were able to read Legendary early! While Caraval kind of faded in my mind by the end of 2017 I am still quite curious to see what the sequel is going to be like and I’m still waiting to hear back from either NetGalley or the UK publisher but so far no luck!
Hopefully you’ll end up enjoying To Kill A Kingdom more as the story goes on it would suck if it ended up not being what you hoped it would be!

I hope you get Legendary soon! I know you’d love it. I am still utterly and completely shocked that I did but it really is a good book.

Hmm I wasn’t sure about To Kill A Kingdom for some reason so didn’t request. I suspect it may have been comparisons to other books that put me off though rather than reviews. I will be interested to read your review particularly if you end up being the one dissenting voice.
Very happy to hear you enjoyed Legendary. Despite my best efforts it seems I’m going to have to buy it 😉

I can easily see myself becoming that one dissenting voice in the case of To Kill a Kingdom. I hate books that are overly predictable and this one certainly is. I am determined to get through it though. I paid for the darn thing so I’m going to read it…but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.
There is still time for an ARC request for Legendary to come through and I really hope you get it. I’m still completely shocked about how much I enjoyed it.

I hope you like the rest of To Kill a Kingdom! And I wasn’t a huge fan of Caraval but I keep hearing that the sequel is better so I might give it a chance. I look forward to your review!

The sequel is, I kid you not, about a million times better. I detested Caraval. If it hadn’t had such a pretty cover I would have sold my copy after I finished reading it. Legendary made up for that. A large part of that is because it is told from Tella’s POV instead of Scarlett’s, I think. I kept wanting to box Scarlett’s ears for being so naively stupid but Tella has some pizzazz to her!

Ok now I’m intrigued! I wasn’t a fan of Scarlett’s story at all. Hopefully Tella makes up for it. I always thought she was the more interesting of the two.

Huh, that’s interesting. I disliked Caraval with all of my being, but it actually gets better? Whoaaaa…!!!

Strangely enough, I got the same burnt out feeling creeping in on me while I read To Kill A Kingdom. Which is really odd 🤔 I hope it’s not the book causing it, cause I really enjoyed the book and I’m glad you are enjoying it too 😊
