WWW Wednesday – March 21

WWWWednesday

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.

The three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

“But everyone knows that the Breccia Domain is more than an empty hole in the earth. Who knows what happened to the queens who were thrown down into the dark? Into the heart of the island, where the Goddess’s eye is always open. Who knows how she kept those queens or what she turned them into”

One Dark Throne (Three Dark Crowns #2) by Kendare Blake . This is another book I’m reading as audio. Why was I ever hesitant about audiobooks? These suckers are amazing. I get so much more reading done. Anyway, I read the first book in this series last year and was pretty meh about it but decided to give this one a shot anyway because people said it was a lot better. I’m about half through and, well, it is okay. Nothing to be excited about. I like the concept but the characters are a little flat for me.

For everyone who knows there was enough room for Leonardo DiCaprio on that door.
And for England. We’re really sorry for what we’re about to do to your history.

My Lady Jane (The Lady Janies #1) by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, Jodi Meadows. I have been wanting to read this book for ages and finally picked myself up a new hardcopy of it last month. Started reading it yesterday, I am maybe 50 pages in and have already laughed multiple times. Loving this read!

Far above the crown of stars, there lay a kingdom cast in shadows until a daughter born of light drove the night away. And so the Great Dark waited a thousand turns around the sun and promised on its heart of iron to once again return.

Heart of Iron (Heart of Iron #1) by Ashley Poston. Honestly, I had some really mixed feelings about this book. I loved the constant action and the premise but…there were some issues. My full review of this book will be posting on Friday the 23rd so watch out for it!

There were two kinds of monsters, the kind that hunted the streets and the kind that lived in your head. She could fight the first, but the second was more dangerous. It was always, always, always a step ahead.

Our Dark Duet (Monsters of Verity #2) by Victoria Schwab . Just finished this one yesterday as an audiobook and, while I love Schwab, this duology didn’t leave my blood singing. It was good. Above average, even. The story was well fleshed out and had an interesting cast of characters but it just didn’t have that pull for me, you know? I may or may not write a full review of the duology, I’m still deciding.

Plenty of humans were monstrous, and plenty of monsters knew how to play at being human.

Vicious (The Villains #1) by V.E. Schwab. Earlier this week I picked this book as audio with an Audible credit so I’ll be starting on it as soon as I finish with One Dark Throne. I can only do one audio at a time or it gets all jumbled in my head but I am really looking forward to this one.

I also still want to read Illuminae which I posted as my next read last week but as of yet I haven’t been able to get my hands on a hard copy of it. I had it checked out from the library as audio but with how the book is formatted that audio just wasn’t working for me. I need to be able to see it with all of its redacted bits and all.
