WWW Wednesday – May 2

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.

The three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

Aelin had promised herself, months and months ago, that she would not pretend to be anything but what she was. She had crawled through darkness and blood and despair-she had survived.

Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass #5) by Sarah J. Maas . I have found that the only way I am going to read this series is through audio. Right now I’m only about 8% into this one and, well, I am not impressed. So many Maas certified awkward sexual scenes. I’m pretty sure a frog was involved or maybe I dozed off and dreamed that part.

A year. Gods, nearly a year since Rhys had called in his bargain, desperate to get me away from the poison of the Spring Court to save me from my despair. Had he been only a minute later, the Mother knew what would have happened. Where I’d now be.

A Court of Frost and Starlight (A Court of Thorns and Roses #3.1) by Sarah J. Maas . Guess what? More awkward sex scenes. I knew they were going to be there. Maas wrote it, awkward intimacy is her stock in trade. Again, not too far into this, but it is nice being back with these characters again.

What did you recently finish reading?

I am me because I choose to be me. I am what I want. Some people say you have to find yourself. Not I. I believe we create ourselves to be what we want.

Daughter of the Pirate King (Daughter of the Pirate King #1) by Tricia Levenseller
Daughter of the Siren Queen (Daughter of the Pirate King #2) by Tricia Levenseller (review up 5/5)

I binged these two books in three days. I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved them. Strong yet flawed female lead, fascinating cast of support characters, near constant action, high stakes, these books have everything. Fantastic, fast reads.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Being a bastard blows. Tilla would know. Her father, Lord Kent of the Western Province, loved her as a child, but cast her aside as soon as he had trueborn children.

Royal Bastards (Royal Bastards #1) by Andrew Shvarts. I have been wanting to read this book for a while but my library didn’t have it and didn’t want to order it and the hardback price was too steep for my blood. Finally, FINALLY, it is coming out in paperback in the US and I ordered it. Can’t wait to read this one!

  1. I loved loved loved The Daughter of the Pirate King. But, I have to admit that Daughter of the Siren Queen was a bit less good for me. It was still good but it was too much of the same and the romance part went frustratingly slow for me. But it was still a very good book 😊
