Down the TBR Hole # 21

Welcome again to Down the TBR Hole! This meme came from Lost in a Story. All book descriptions taken from Goodreads.

Current TBR Total: 142

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

The Thief (The Queen’s Thief #1) by Megan Whalen Turner – While the premise of this story is interesting it sounds like books I’ve read before. I browsed the reviews and it really doesn’t seem to be offering anything different. While I’m usually fine with that in fantasy and sci-fi, I prefer my history fiction to differ.

Black Bird of the Gallows (Black Birds of the Gallows) by Meg Kassel – You know, I have had ample opportunity to read this book. I see it sitting on the library shelves frequently and it has been available on Libby during my browsing several times. I keep passing it by. At this point, I think it is safe to say goodbye. You don’t pass something by that many times if you truly mean to read it.

Vengeance Road (Vengeance Road #1) by Erin Bowman  – This book has above average ratings on Goodreads and several of my friends that have read it have given it a positive review. However, it is a western. As in shoot out at high noon, ride off into the sunset kind of western. Not up my alley. That really is a lovely cover though, lets be fair.

If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio – Does this book sound interesting? Sure. Absolutely. In this tale of loyalty and betrayal, madness and ecstasy, the players must choose what roles to play before the curtain falls.– how is that line from the description not interesting? However…I know I will never read it. It takes a seriously good story to make me read something set in the modern day and I just don’t think this will do it for me.

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See – Sometimes I come across a book, or several, on my TBR that I have no memory of. Reading the description, this doesn’t sound like something I have ever been interested in. Wonder how this ended up on my TBR?

The Hanged Man (Her Majesty’s Psychic Service #1) by P.N. Elrod – This book sounds amazing. I think that every single time I see it. I even got it at a great deal on Thriftbooks sometime last year so it is sitting on my physical TBR shelf. I will definitely get to this book at some point.

New TBR Total: 137

Look at that beautiful purge! I just don’t see the point of keeping books on my TBR that I’m not super sure I am going to read. Life is too short to read books you aren’t interested in.

Have you had a good purge recently?
