WWW Wednesday – May 30

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.

The three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

Even paradise could become a prison if one had enough time to take notice of the walls.

Falling Kingdoms (Falling Kingdoms #1) by Morgan Rhodes. A few of you lovely folks recommended this book to me so, seeing as my library does not carry this title and the wait list for Libby was months long, I grabbed this one with an Audible credit. So far the story is interesting and the narrator is great but I am having some trouble following along with the story. There are so many characters and each group gets a different chapter and I am having issues keeping them all straight.

If by a moment, you mean me not wanting to strangle you for the first time since we met, then I guess we are.

Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles #2) by Marissa Meyer. I have made a huge mistake. When I read Cinder I thought that it was shallow, vapid, and utterly simple. At the time, I vowed to not continue the series. However, I kept being told Scarlet was worlds better than Cinder and that I should try it. Well, I’ve tried it and I regret it. I hope Scarlet falls down a well and stays there. She is the most ignorant, simple minded female character I have encountered in modern fantasy and I hate that I wasted my time with this utter trash. I see a DNF of this in the near future.

What did you recently finish reading?

You have ink in your blood, boy, and no help for it. Books will never be just a business to you.

Ink and Bone (The Great Library #1) by Rachel Caine. My full review of this book is scheduled to go up on June 2. However, in the meantime I will say that this book was good but it wasn’t what I expected. Some parts were very slow moving and the character development stagnated but overall it was a good story and I rated it 3.75.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Oh heck, guys. I don’t know. I don’t think I have ever read a book I’ve put in this section at the time I said I would. My TBR is a lottery that I don’t often follow. About half the time the books I pick up aren’t even on my TBR. At some point I plan on reading the next book of The Great Library series. Probably.

  1. Yikes… I’d been avoiding the Lunar Chronicles in part because of the breathless hype around them. This is the first time I’ve seen anyone loathing them! I think I will keep avoiding them. Shallow characters are definitely too aggravating to put up with.

  2. Your thoughts on Scarlet are the exact same thoughts I had when I listened to it. It was my least favorite out of the three books of that series I read. I’m curious to see your review on Ink and Bone since it’s getting more popular 🙂

    1. I hate Scarlet. I thought I hated Clockwork Angel more than any other book I’ve ever read but Scarlet may very well take the crown. I haven’t touched it in three days and just thinking about it has me fuming. If I didn’t have the makings of a migraine I might sit here and vent about it for days. I am so glad that I am not alone in my utter distaste for that book.
