Rules of Music Mondays: Every Monday share a few songs you’ve been enjoying lately. It doesn’t have to be a specific genre, new, or one of your favorites – just something you’d like to share with others. If possible, share a music or lyric video of the song and your thoughts on the song(s), artist(s), and/or music video(s). Meme by Drew @ The Tattooed Book Geek
I had trouble picking music this week. I haven’t been listening to much. Why? It is hard to listen to music an adult would like when you have a four year old who starts singing song lyrics to inappropriate songs in public. For example, I love the song Blood by In This Moment. However, my daughter informs another parent that her mommy, “really likes to listen to that blood blood blood song.” I thought it was funny. The other parent? Not so much.
So, in that frame of mind, today I chose two songs that I used to love over a decade ago that remind me of my now husband.
When I first moved in with my now husband ten years ago we would sit at our computers and play World of Warcraft and this was a song I frequently listened to while sitting there with him. Every time I hear it that memory pops up. It was so early in our relationship and everything was still awkward but those are still good memories.
This song always brings back good memories. When it was popular I was living in the dorm at college and had recently met, you guessed it, my husband. I don’t even think we were even really dating yet, it was the awkward phase at the beginning where you are all giddy about that other person even though you aren’t really sure what is going on. I had made this song his ring tone on my cell phone (do people still do that?) so every time he called I’d hear it. Still makes me think of that cold dorm and those early flirty phone calls to this day and has me smiling.
