Top Ten Tuesday – ??????

ttt-big2

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week they provide a topic and you are free to use that topic and/or variations of that topic to make your top ten list. You don’t have to do all ten. Instead you can do three, five, fifteen, whatever you want. A full list of the weekly themes can be found here.

This week’s theme is supposed to be Favorite Novellas/Short Stories but that is something that I don’t read very often at all. So, I’m doing my own thing this week. I’ll be doing Books I Regret Not Having Read Yet.

Iron Gold (Red Rising Saga #4) by Pierce Brown  – I preordered this book and it was delivered on release day in January. However, I’ve not got through chapter one. Horrible, I know. I’ve tried several times but it just hasn’t struck me. I absolutely want to get through this book…hopefully before the next one comes out.

Illuminae (The Illuminae Files #1) by Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff  – I am actually currently a little more than half way through this…and have been since April. Yikes. I loved every single page I read of this book but life got a little weird in April and I just sat it down and never picked it up again. I need to finish this book because I was very much enjoying it.

Royal Bastards (Royal Bastards #1) by Andrew Shvarts  – Another book I bought super excited to read and then it has sat on my shelf for ages. Every time I pick up a new book I consider this one but I just haven’t done it yet. The premise sounds great and I know I’ll enjoy it when I finally do read it.

My Lady Jane (The Lady Janies #1) by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, Jodi Meadows  – Another book I got about half way through and sat down. What is my problem? It wasn’t bad, I mostly enjoyed what I read of it but there is sits on the shelf, bookmark sticking out of the top to mock me. I shall conquer you, Jane!

Hunted by Meagan Spooner – Here we are with another book I bought in excitement, highly regarded by the community, and then let collect dust on a shelf. Really, what is wrong with me? Everyone loves this thing. From where I sit I can even see it sitting on my most prominent bookcase. I’ll get there, I promise.

Wolf by Wolf (Wolf By Wolf #1) by Ryan Graudin – The other book I read by Graudin, Invictus, is one of my top tens books I have ever read. As soon as I finished it I picked up Wolf by Wolf which, it seems, is her most popular. I’ve been wanting to read it but just one of those books that has sat on my shelf, taunting me.

These are the books that I most wish I would just shut up and read already that I already own. I mean, really, all of them are highly regarded and are right up by alley. But, for some reason, they still sit on the TBR shelf. Come on, Amanda. Get on it.

  1. Lol I totally feel you on the time it’s taking you to read Illuminae. Although I finished that particular book really quickly I tend to be a super slow reader. And I’ve been reading the Way of Kings since April too!

  2. Lots of good reading awaits you! That’s not a pressure statement btw, just excitement because a lot of these books are amazing. Illuminae. Listening to the audiobook (full cast) while following along with the book blew my freaking mind. I feel like that’s how books should actually be experienced!! I also ditched this week’s topic in favor of my own thing and did celebrity autobiographies. Feel free to check it out here: http://nerdnarrationblog.wordpress.com/2018/07/17/top-ten-tuesday-cat-edition-trust-me-its-not-what-youre-thinking/

    happy reading!

      1. I mean for me it’s the way to go. After I did it for book 1 I splurged on book 2 and 3 because it’s just such a crazy experience. The book is visually stunning with all the formatting choices and the audiobook is full cast (different actor for each character — even minors) and has sound effects and just made it next level for me. If you do go that route PLEASE let me know how it goes! =D
