WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.
The three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
What are you currently reading?
“There comes a certain point with a hope or a dream, when you either give it up or give up everything else. And if you choose the dream, if you keep on going, then you can never quit, because it’s all you are.”
Muse of Nightmares (Strange the Dreamer #2) by Laini Taylor. I am currently reading this as audio, as I did with Strange the Dreamer, and first thing I must say is that Steve West is a terrific narrator. He brings such life to the story! That being said, I’m not enjoying Muse as much as I did Strange. I am 25% in and so far it has focused heavily on a romantic aspect. Not something that really tickles me but definitely going to stick with it. Have to know how this one turns out.
What did you recently finish reading?
The rite has existed for as long as anyone can remember: when the prince-who-will-be-king comes of age, he must venture out into the gray lands, slay a fierce dragon, and rescue a damsel to be his bride. This is the way things have always been.
Damsel by Elana K. Arnold. This book has a lot of mixed reviews but don’t let that deter you, this is the dark retelling you never knew you always wanted. It is violent, abusive, and absolutely horrible and I gobbled it up like candy. Psychological abuse does reign supreme in this story so if that is something that bothers you, steer clear, but for those that wade in, know this. The ending is everything.
What do you think you’ll read next?
“If you wish to go, I’ll never make you stay. I might not do and say the proper thing all the time, but I do know that I love you enough to set you free.”
Escaping from Houdini (Stalking Jack the Ripper #3) by Kerri Maniscalco. Guys, I am so lucky. This past weekend my husband, daughter, and I went on a little vacation for her fifth birthday. I had gotten caught up in packing and getting ready and forgot to bring my book. What does my husband say? “Why don’t you go buy one while we are here?” So, I did and he stayed at the hotel with the munchkin. I’m so lucky to have a person who understands my love of reading and the comfort it gives me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure my book distraction annoys him on occasion but he is usually very supportive and quite the enabler. Good guy. In a nutshell, this was the book I bought that evening and I enjoyed browsing what ended up being an awesome bookshop so much that I only read the first two pages.
That is my past week in reading. What are you all reading? Any good recommendations?
I have Muse of Nightmares but as it’s a big giant hardback (and not the easiest to carry around) I have been waiting to start until I can just sit and devour it. I’m not that surprised the start has been heavy on the romance, the end of Strange seemed to be heading in that direction. Hopefully it’ll get back on track and have a phenomenal ending.

I sure hope so. I just passed 25% and it seems to finally be veering from that. No matter the topic the writing is still excellent. That woman has a gift.
