Top Ten Tuesday | Most Anticipated Releases for First Half of 2019

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week they provide a topic and you are free to use that topic and/or variations of that topic to make your top ten list. You don’t have to do all ten. Instead you can do three, five, fifteen, whatever you want. A full list of the weekly themes can be found here.

This week’s theme is Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2019. There are so many books coming out this year that I am yearning to read! 2018 gave us some fabulous releases and I don’t think that 2019 will disappoint, either.

The Kingdom of Copper (The Daevabad Trilogy #2) by S. A. Chakraborty – City of Brass was one of the first books I read in 2018 and I loved it. Sure, there were a few slow bits but overall it was an enthralling story with dynamic characters and a plot line that just kept giving. I have already preordered my copy of this book and can’t wait to get started on it. January 22

Evermore (Everless #2) by Sara Holland – Everless was one of my favorite reads for the first half of 2018 and I already have Evermore in my hands. Initially, I thought this was a trilogy but recently discovered it is a duology so I am hesitant to start this book. I thought I’d get another entire book of these characters but that is not to be. I know when I do read Evermore I will love it, though. Everless left off at quite the cliffhanger which I’m not ashamed to say is one of my favorite things. January 3

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon – Please, I will pick up anything Samantha Shannon releases. She could release a 1000 page novel describing her sock drawer and I would probably still gobble it up. That being said, I got to read the first couple chapters of this book not long ago and it didn’t suck me in. Despite that, I will still be grabbing it once it comes out because everyone needs a giant orange book about magic and dragons. February 26

Song of the Dead (Reign of the Fallen #2) by Sarah Glenn Marsh – I am really hyped to get my hands on this book! Reign of the Fallen left off feeling pretty well tied up with a wonderful f/f romance in bloom and I really want to see where Marsh takes the story from there. January 22

Lady Smoke (Ash Princess Trilogy #2) by Laura Sebastian – When I read Ash Princess last year was I completely blown away? No. But the bones of a magnificent trilogy were there just waiting to be pieced together. I think Sebastian more than has the ability to give this story the growth and nurturing it needs to make it something truly magical. February 5

Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller – Levenseller’s previous books, Daughter of the Pirate King and Daughter of the Siren Queen, both absolutely blew me away. When I saw she was releasing a new book this year I was completely excited. To be honest, I’m not terribly interested in vikings and their lore but if Levenseller is selling it, I will buy it. February 26

I could probably keep blabbering on about early 2019 releases for another 10 books. There are so many coming out that I am beyond anxious to read! Since it is The Wicked King release day I’ll let you all get back to your complicated fae story and just leave you with a few more than honorable mentions.

  1. Great list! The Priory of the Orange Tree made my list this week too, and I need to read The City of Brass Soon. I had no idea Reign of the Fallen was f/f! That’s going straight on my TBR…

  2. I had Evermore on my list of most anticipated fantasy sequels but I’m starting to have my doubts about it as the reviews I’ve seen have not been particularly great. I still really want to read it as I enjoyed Everless but I’m trying not to let my hopes get too high.
