WWWWednesday

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.

The three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

Alright, alright, alright. I told myself I wouldn’t read this. I didn’t even like The Cruel Prince. But here I am, caught up in this hype train and I have zero bookish willpower. I’m only about 50 pages in and so far it is exactly what I expected, which is to say isn’t much. You know my dumb butt will keep reading though. I always want to know what all the fuss is about, you know? Stay tuned, the review should at least be entertaining when I am done.

This book was featured in the December 2018 Owl Crate box. I must say, that before opening the box I hadn’t even heard of this book. The description sounds interesting and most of the reviews are on the positive side so I have high hopes. Admittedly, the start is a little slow and I feel a heavy romance sub plot on the horizon but I’ll keep my mind open about it.

What did you recently finish reading?

In December I was lucky enough to receive this as an eARC from Netgalley and I devoured it in a few short sittings. I think that this is my favorite of the Speedwell novels so far and that is really saying something because I love them all. I’m going to wait until a little closer to its release date of March 12 to post my review but I will let you know right now that it is going to be glowing.

When I first finished this book I gave it a solid four stars, as I had the first two novels in the series. Then, once I started writing the review, I became angrier and angrier and by the end my rating had dropped to a 3/5. The story was predictable, the “who done it” feeling had disappeared by mid book, and the plot relied entirely too much on the reader caring how Thomas was behaving. Not my cup of tea but I can see why it would appeal to many readers.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I mentioned this in my previous post but I read the first book of this duology, Everless, last January and was gifted the second book, Evermore, by my sister for Christmas. While I haven’t picked it up quite yet I am definitely going to. I didn’t realize the series was only a duology and not a trilogy so that was a surprise when I found out so I’m both anxious and nervous to find out what happens to wrap this story up.

Are you reading any of these books? Have some opinions on them. Let me know! You can also find me on Twitter @literaryweapnry

  1. I am very late to The Folk of the Air series. I am starting The Cruel Prince today and hope to move on to The Wicked King within a week. That black cover is so pretty!!

  2. Nooo!! Everyone is reading Wicked King and I need to wait a whole week for it to be released in the UK. I’m still trying to decide on Evermore. I will no doubt read it but may wait till it’s been out for a bit so I can get a bargain.
