I found myself in a blogging slump this week and decided to find a tag instead of my usual weekly items. Felt like a good change of pace. I found this tag over at Fiction no Chaser and thought it could be fun.
- Answer these questions truthfully.
- Once you’re done, tag 5 other book bloggers to answer these questions next.
WHICH BOOK, MOST RECENTLY, DID YOU NOT FINISH?
Most recently I did not finish Amber and Dusk by Lyra Selene. This was the featured book in December 2018’s Owl Crate and it just couldn’t grab my attention. I really tried to read it, how could I not? However I got about of a quarter of the way in and discovered that I didn’t give a horse’s backside about any of the characters or their various goals and plots.
WHICH BOOK IS YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?
When I am feeling really, really down and I’ve tried most all of my other methods for a pick me up, as a last resort I turn to Savor the Moment (Bride Quartet #3) by Nora Roberts. This book always at least provides me a pleasant distraction when I’m feeling really down and I’m grateful to it.
WHICH BOOK DO YOU LOVE TO HATE?
I am perfectly content hating on Cassandra Clare’s Infernal Devices. I had never been so bored and irritated with a book in as long as I can remember. I’ve ranted about this book before, so I’ll leave it at that here.
WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU THROW INTO THE SEA?
I am Legend by Richard Matheson. I absolutely hated that book. Honestly, it was the first book that I owned that I willingly and enthusiastically gave away.
WHICH BOOK HAVE YOU READ THE MOST?
Searching for Dragons (Enchanted Forest Chronicles #2) by Patricia C Wrede. I have been reading that book and been read that book since I was a small child. Even now my battered paperback copy’s cover is falling off and the pages are yellowed and worn. It always reminds me of better times.
WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU HATE TO RECEIVE AS A PRESENT?
I was actually in a hospital waiting room this week, sitting there minding my own business entertaining my kiddo, when a man that struck me as white supremacist scum came through trying to shove religious texts onto everyone in the waiting area. Ah, the dangers of living in a borderline southern area of the US.
WHICH BOOK COULD YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT?
Well, let’s say that my house is on fire, and I only have time to grab one book. I would snatch my early 1900s collection of Poe’s works off the shelf without a second thought. It is lovely and faded and brings me joy. Would be devastating to lose it.
WHICH BOOK MADE YOU THE ANGRIEST?
A lot of books make me angry, disappointed, or irritated so it is difficult to choose a winning of this category. If I had to choose I would probably pick A Court of Frost and Starlight (A Court of Thorns and Roses #3.1) by Sarah J Maas. This was such a cop out of a book. It felt like she was just trying to get some more moola and make deadlines instead of giving us a book a story that readers deserved from that world. It was very irritating and one of my most disappointing reads of 2018.
WHICH BOOK MADE YOU CRY THE MOST?
Good grief, I don’t know. I can’t sit here and legitimately remember actually crying over a book. As a teen I may have shed a few tears reading the last Harry Potter book but that has been a long while ago so I don’t know if that is true or not.
WHICH BOOK COVER DO YOU HATE THE MOST?
At the risk of being flayed by the bookish community, I absolutely HATE the cover for King of Scars. It is so gaudy and atrocious. It is not a book I have plans to read so it isn’t a huge deal to me but every time I see it pop up on social media or anywhere I cringe a little inside.
