Welcome again to Down the TBR Hole! This meme came from Lost in a Story. All book descriptions taken from Goodreads.
Current TBR Total: 157
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
The Book of Lost Fragrances (Reincarnationist #4) by M.J. Rose – I love M.J. Rose’s Reincarnationist series. Love it. It is a delightful mix of historical and modern fiction with hints of mystery and fantasy, all mixed up into a great big pot and delivered to you steaming hot. Her prose has a tendency to get a little weighty but for me it just adds to the story.
Hunted by Meagan Spooner – Alright, I know this book got so much love when it came out. People were over the moon about it and I ended up purchasing it myself last spring. Since then I have tried to pick it up three or four times and I can’t get past the first couple of chapters. It is just so slow moving and that is something I have trouble staying interested in. Tough call but I think this one is going to go.
The Case of the Deadly Doppelgänger (Dr Riberios Agency for the Supernatural #2) by Lucy Banks – When I first started out here at LW I was lucky enough to get an eARC of the first book in this series and I loved it! It was a fun little romp with interesting characters, plenty of action, and interesting SFF mysteries. I am definitely going to keep this one on my TBR!
Guns of the Dawn by Adrian Tchaikovsky – Here we are, once again, with another Gandalf moment. I have no memory of this book or adding it to my TBR. The description doesn’t sound very much up my alley, either. Not sure where it came from but I think it is time for it to go.
Wolf by Wolf (Wolf by Wolf #1) by Ryan Graudin – I have a strange relationship with this book. I swear by Graudin’s Invictus and have read and reread that book over and over. I love it. It gives me joy. So, of course I purchased another book by the author but I’m terrified to pick it up because I want to love it like I do Invictus but and afraid to be disappointed. This will be definitely be sticking around on my TBR, and my physical shelf, and maybe one day I will stop being ridiculous and read it.
Wicked Fox (Gumiho #1) by Kay Cho – Hello to another book I have no memory of. Where do these things come from? Do they jump into people’s TBRs like magic or is there foul play afoot? Either way, this book does not sound interesting to me. I’m not terribly into modern day stories, even when there is a hint of SFF to go with it.
New TBR Total: 154
Yay for weeding out the TBR pile! Of course, I am adding books faster than I read or delete others but that is okay. As long as it makes me happy, who cares?
Are any of these books on your TBR? Think I should have kept one that I deleted? Let me know!
