Down the TBR Hole #32

TBRHOLE

Welcome again to Down the TBR Hole! This meme came from Lost in a Story. All book descriptions taken from Goodreads.

Current TBR Total: 160

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

The Illumination of Ursula Flight by Anna-Marie Crowhurst – This book certainly doesn’t fit my usual choices and I think that may be some of its appeal for me. An author I follow on Goodreads described this historical fiction as, “A beautifully bawdy feminist romp – part period drama, part post-modernist mayhem.” You know, that sounds like a great read.

The Lost Queen (The Lost Queen Trilogy #1) by Signe Pike – As I put these posts together I always reread the descriptions for the books in question. I just reread this one and it made me want to pick up the book immediately. Merlin, magic, fighting queen, the fate of the kingdom in the balance…yeah, I’m sold.

Empire of Sand (The Books of Ambha #1) by Tasha Suri – I don’t know what it is about this book. On one hand I’m interested, on the other I want to toss it. I think it may be because of the book’s description which sounds dry as dust. It makes me wonder if the book is that way. Some of the reviews are really pompous, too. Eh…

Paper and Fire (The Great Library #2) by Rachel Caine – Sometime in 2018 I read the first book in this series and, while I enjoyed it, I certainly didn’t like it enough to want to pick up the next book of the series immediately. It is interesting, don’t get me wrong, but it just lacked that something to really keep my attention. I think I’ll keep this one around for now, but I’m really not sure I’ll ever get to it.

Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller – I absolutely adored Levenseller’s Daughter of the Pirate King duology. Her writing and the engaging story absolutely blew me away, I couldn’t get enough. Needless to say, when I saw this book announced it went straight onto my TBR. This one actually comes out Feb 26 and a preorder was gifted to me (by my wonderful father) so it is most certainly sticking around. Can’t wait!

The Glass of Time (The Meaning of Night #2) by Michael Cox – A few years ago, at least four, I read the first book of this series. It was interesting and I was certainly invested in it. The thing is, that book’s ending was tied up in a bow and according to this one’s description there is an entirely new cast of characters and brand new story. So why call it the second book of a series? That annoys me. But…I’m still interested.

New TBR Total: 160

I think this is the first time I’ve done one of these and not deleted a single book. That is alright. I just means there are more book on my TBR that still catch my attention and I can’t complain about that.
