February Wrap Up

Hello all and welcome to my February Wrap Up! I must say, I had a glorious month for reading and a lot of other positive bookish things. I am also very grateful to all of you who come and look at my blog. Just want you to know that I see and appreciate all of you and I hope that we have many happy bookish years together to come. Now, lets get to the wrap up!

~Read~

A Curse so Dark and Lonely (A Curse so Dark and Lonely #1) by Brigid Kemmerer – This book was absolutely amazing! I completely fell in love with the story and writing flow/style within the first few pages. We have a strong, brave heroine, a morally compromised beast, an adventure, and a story of redemption. One of my favorite books of all time. 5/5

The Kingdom of Copper (The Daevabad Trilogy #2) by S.A. Chakraborty – The second book in Chakraborty’s Daevabad trilogy was wonderful! There was so much character growth in this book that it made my little heart go pitter patter. Especially Nahri. She grew so much and really became a strong, determined, and fiercely intelligent woman. I love Nahri and can’t wait for the conclusion to this series next year! 4/5

Cold-Heart Rake (The Ravenals #1) by Lisa Kleypas – Romance isn’t my typical genre but I make it a point to read one each year for Valentine’s Day. While this certainly wasn’t the best romance I’ve ever read, it filled the bill. I wish the female lead had been a little less…bleh and the romance itself more believable but overall, it was okay. 3/5

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik – I. Loved. This. Book. Spinning Silver is a reimagined Rumpelstilskin (I can never spell that right) and it is everything I ever wanted in a fairy tale. Magic, mayhem, strong female leads, character growth, perilous peril, happily ever afters…it is just wonderful. Also the writing itself is something more miraculous than I have ever seen before. This is the perfect retelling. 5/5

A Study in Charlotte (Charlotte Holmes #1) by Brittany Cavallaro – After I finally got around to watching the most recent episode of Sherlock, I had an itch to read a Sherlock Holmes retelling and this on certainly filled the bill. None of the characters were exactly likable but I don’t expect them to be. The original Holmes characters were certainly not entirely likable. 4/5

~Book Haul~

There were so many books that came out in February that I had been looking forward to! I didn’t get all of them on my list but I was lucky enough to get a few. Here is my haul.

~Outside the Blog~

I have been toying with the idea of making a YouTube channel for a while now and I think I’m going to take the plunge. I have already created the account for it and am working on creating a banner. I’m also getting over a cold so my voice is a bit touch and go so I’ve put it off a little bit. Hopefully I get everything together soon because I am pretty excited about this endeavor.

My channel, once it is all together, will be found here and I hope to see you there!

In February I also added a post called TBR Takedown on which I compiled all of the books in my possession that I had not yet read. Each month I am going to try to read a few books from this list and also keep it updated with any new books or ARCs that I get.

I want to thank you all once again for coming by. It makes my heart happy when I log in to see the hits and comments on Literary Weaponry. I hope you all have a wonderful March and happy reading!

  1. Amazing wrap up! I had a good month in Feb too and looking forward to March now:) I’ve just picked up Kingdom of Brass from the library, so eager to start the series 🙂

Also, all the best and congrats on your youtube channel! I’ll definitely subscribe. Does that mean you wont be blogging here anymore? I hope you’ll keep this alive too? hehe

I have been thinking about starting my Booktube channel too, but I just get stuck where the creative element starts – like getting the banner ready, editing, etc. It just feels like a full time job and it probably is..hehe. I wish you all the best for this 🙂

    1. City of Brass is such a wonderful book. The middle bit does get a little slow but the ending makes up for it and then some. Hope you love it!

I’ll also still continue blogging here. I love my little blog and all the great people I’ve met through it. Definitely not letting it go, book tube or not. I have to agree about it feeling like a full time job sometimes, though. Hah!

  2. Yeees Spinning Silver was so good! I’m glad to see you enjoyed The Kingdom of Copper – I need to return to The City of Brass soon and make a proper start on that series because I enjoyed what I read of it. I got a copy of The Priory of the Orange Tree this month, too, and I’m really looking forward to reading it once I get a few NetGalley reads under my belt.

I keep thinking of taking the YouTube plunge myself, so well done to you for taking those steps! I look forward to seeing you on there. 😀

    1. I keep reaching for Priory to pick it up myself but that thing is such a monster that I haven’t convinced myself to take the plunge yet. I usually read the really big books as audio but I just needed that one on my shelf, you know?

I hope you love City of Brass. The middle bit is a little sluggish but the end is awesome and more than makes up for it.
