Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week they provide a topic and you are free to use that topic and/or variations of that topic to make your top ten list. You don’t have to do all ten. Instead you can do three, five, fifteen, whatever you want. A full list of the weekly themes can be found here.
This week’s theme is a Freebie so I chose Books On My Owned Backlist I Most Want To Read. There are so many books that have come out a year or more ago that I haven’t got around to reading yet but am still excited about. But, I decided to take it a step further and add the caveat of only using books I already own.
A Reaper at the Gates (An Ember in the Ashes #3) by Sabaa Tahir – I absolutely adored the first two books in this series. I was impressed by Tahir’s writing style, the world building, character development, and her willingness to give any character the shaft if it fit the story. So, when Reaper came out I went right out and bought it…then it has sat languishing on my shelves ever since.
Iron Gold (Red Rising #4) by Pierce Brown – Here is another book that I was intensely anticipating and had preordered. The day it showed up on my doorstep I had little stars in my eyes and couldn’t wait to get started on it! Then it promptly joined my shelf quite literally directly beside of Reaper at the Gates and there it has sat. Dark Age is now released so I really, really need to read this one!
Illuminae (The Illuminae Files #1) by Aime Kaufman and Jay Kristoff – This book is a little different for me. I had actually already read about 2/3 of it in April of 2018 but life got a little…complicated around that time and I sat it down, bookmark still peaking out of the top, and haven’t picked it up since. It has been so long that I am going to have to reread everything in it that I had already read whenever I finally do get around to this one again.
Uprooted by Naomi Novik – Having this one still sitting on my TBR actually shames me a tad. I read Spinning Silver and absolutely adored that book with every fiber of my being which, of course, led me to find other books by Novik. I was so excited to get this one and hugged it tight before…depositing it on my bookshelf where I stop and look at it and tell myself I’m going to read it soon at least once a week. Yikes.
Shatter Me (Shatter Me #1) by There Mafi – This one being on the list is a little bit different. Last fall I had read a little less than half of this book, decided it wasn’t for me, and returned it to the library. Then, Liene of Liene’s Library posted a video talking about the Shatter Me series. I tend to agree with 99% of the books she likes/dislikes so being the trash I am I bought a copy of this with the intent of trying to read it again. This “older” book sitting on my TBR is 100% Liene’s fault.
Shadow of the Fox (Shadow of the Fox #1) by Julie Kagawa – Do you all remember the hype around this book prior to its release? It was a hype-a-paloosa! Felt like absolutely everyone in the fantasy reading community was excited for the book’s release. In typically Literary Weaponry fashion I completely gave into the hype and bought this book. Guess what? I have never opened the cover. I really need to crack this baby open and find out what all the fuss was about!
There are at least a dozen more books on my owned TBR that I need to read sometime soon. To see a full list of my unread owned TBR check out my TBR Take Down.
What are some books that you own that you have been meaning to get too?
