WWWWednesday

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.

The three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson – I actually have two copies of this book, this original version and the OwlCrate edition which is purple and I can’t find a satisfyingly good picture of but it is beautiful. Rogerson’s debut, An Enchantment of Ravens, was absolutely fabulous and so far I am loving Sorcery. It took a few chapters to really get going but the driving force of this story really is the characters. They are all vivid and different and there is one that is a little confusing and I adore him. Love Rogerson’s writing.

Darkdawn (The Nevernight Chronicles #3) by Jay Kristoff – I’ve read this series as audio (because those asides just piss me off on page) and while I haven’t loved the books they have been pretty good. I saw some spoilers from the end of this one that left a bad taste in my mouth but I guess we will see how it goes. My expectations weren’t terribly high so, there’s that.

What did you recently finish reading?

Unravel Me (Shatter Me #2) by Tahereh Mafi – Look, I’m not too good to love the drama in this series and it is CONSTANT drama but, at the same time, I never thought this book would end. This book needed chopped down a little bit because in several places it just dragged something terrible, even with the cast of Drama Llamas. I threw it a solid three stars and moved on with my life. I’ll read the third book eventually because I want to see what happens on the Warner/Juliette front but I’m not in a hurry to do so.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Serpent & Dove (Serpent & Dove #1) by Shelby Mahurin – Hi, I am Amanda and instead of picking one of the dozens of books on my shelf that have been waiting in the wings for months, or even years, I am going to read a new release next. I can’t help myself. This one is just calling to me and that cover is great. Not to mention it is sitting on my shelf beside of Gideon the Ninth which just makes it extra sexy.

This is probably the first time that I have ever put a book on my “What do you think you’ll read next?” section one week and then ACTUALLY read it next. That never happens but it did with Darkdawn which was featured there last week. Lets see if it happens with Serpent and Dove next week because that sucker sure is calling to me.

    1. It isn’t a sequel, no. They are both standalone and both give very different vibes. I just finished Sorcery of Thorns last night and while I loved Enchantment of Ravens I think Sorcery was even better. Great books, interesting and distinct characters, and plot lines that don’t drag. You should give them a shot!
