My Book Spotlight piece is meant to bring attention to upcoming releases that I am excited for or past releases that I feel just didn’t get enough love. They can be from new authors, established ones, or anything in between. This week I have a book that I am VERY excited about. With the recent cover reveal I couldn’t wait to feature this book here on Literary Weaponry.

Title: The Sword in the Stars (Once & Future #2) by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy
Publisher: Little, Brown, and Company
Expected publication: April 7, 2020
Genre(s): science fiction, young adult, fantasy, retellings, LGBTQIA
Ari Helix may have won her battle against the tyrannical Mercer corporation, but the larger war has just begun. Ari and her cursed wizard Merlin must travel back in time to the unenlightened Middle Ages and steal the King Arthur’s Grail—the very definition of impossible.
It’s imperative that the time travelers not skew the timeline and alter the course of history. Coming face-to-face with the original Arthurian legend could produce a ripple effect that changes everything. Somehow Merlin forgot that the past can be even more dangerous than the future… (Amazon description)

Once & Future absolutely blew me away. We had action, adventure, romance, danger, happiness, tears, and the stakes were HIGH. I could not get enough and the second I was done reading it I just wanted to open it back up and start again from page one. Never have I read a book that had such a diverse cast and a wonderfully unique take for a retelling. I cannot recommend it enough.

Waterstones does not have this book listed yet but I’m sure it will before too overly long. And, as always, please consider buying local if you are able to do so.
