WWW Wednesday (Thursday)| October 2(3)

Yesterday was a busy day with added complications that I hadn’t been expecting. So, this post didn’t happen on Wednesday like it should have. Please enjoy a belated WWW Wednesday on this lovely Thursday.

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.

The three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

Capturing the Devil (Stalking Jack the Ripper #4) by Kerri Maniscalco – I am having a tough time finishing this book. I don’t know what I expected. The first three books in the series left me feeling slightly let down but when I saw this final installment was about the H.H. Holmes World’s Fair murders I got very excited. Currently I am a little over 3/4 done with this book and 99% of it has been about the blasted love story. If I didn’t already know the H.H. Holmes story I wouldn’t have a clue about what was going on in the case because it has been given little more than a cursory glance. Looking forward to being done with this. I knew better.

House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig – I’ve been reading this one as audio and probably the first quarter of this book blew me away. I loved it! Since then we have steadily gone downhill. The leading lady is overly impulsive and never thinks before she says or does anything. It wouldn’t annoy me so much if many of the other characters didn’t look up to her for her level headedness. She is rash and refuses to accept anything that is not already in her accepted periphery of thoughts and ideals. Absolutely insufferable.

What did you recently finish reading?

Darkdawn (The Nevernight Chronicle #3) by Jay Kristoff – Hello to another book I went into with low expectations. Don’t get me wrong, I WANTED this book to be good, but as I only kinda sorta enjoyed the first two of the series my hopes were not high. Then even those middling hopes were not met. This was easily the worst book of the trilogy. I know a lot of people enjoyed it and I am very happy for you but I just felt like it didn’t deliver on any level.

What do you think you’ll read next?

All three of these books are currently on my shelves and absolutely calling my name. Since it is officially spooky season I need something dark, no light hearted romance driven YAs. If you were choosing your next read from these three, which would you pick?

That is it for this Not Wednesday! Thanks for sticking with me, folks. The last couple months have been chaotic and I know I have been sparse on here but life things come before things that give me joy. I hope you all have a wonderful day and happy reading!

  1. I’m bummed that you didn’t love house of salt and sorrows, but i can see your thoughts on the main character; I think the writing and the setting have stuck with me the most. I did start serpent & dove and so far it’s great!
