Welcome again to Down the TBR Hole! This meme came from Lost in a Story. All book descriptions taken from Goodreads.
Current TBR Total: 201
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
A Reaper at the Gates (An Ember in the Ashes #3) by Sabaa Tahir – I know, I know. I still haven’t read this. I don’t know why. I gobbled down the first two books in this series very quickly and absolutely loved them. What is stopping me from reading this one? I don’t know. I will read it eventually, it taunts me from my shelves.
The Conspiracy of Us (The Conspiracy of Us #1) by Maggie Hall – Honestly, I do feel some pull from this book. Conspiracies, secrets, consequences, and I get the feeling that there may be a love triangle buried in here. But, is it enough to actually make me read it? Hm, I don’t know. For now it can stick around because I’m pretty soundly on a fence about it.
The Gilded King (Sovereign #1) by Josie Jeffrey – This sounds like another run of the mill fantasy. Castles, royalty, and a girl who hates it all. We’ve all read that before. For some reason it is pulling at me, though. What is wrong with me? Okay, okay. I’m a sucker and just bought it as a Kindle ebook. Don’t look at me.
The City Stained Red (Bring Down Heaven #1) by Sam Sykes – I like Sam Sykes. He seems like a cool guy and his books appeal to many. However, I have discovered that I don’t like big books (this one comes in at 646 pages), I don’t often find adult reads entertaining, and don’t have the attention span for them. Thats just me. So, I will be saying adios to this title.
The Impossible Girl by Lydia King – I am apparently not feeling very ruthless today because this book sounds really interesting to me. Historical fiction, mystery, woman trying to make her way in a world where woman are considered a lesser species…I can’t help it. I have a soft spot for those kinds of books.
Kill the Farm Boy (The Tales of Pell #1) by Delilah Dawson – I added this to my TBR because Dawson is an absolute delight. I love the parts of herself that she puts forth on social media and have come to respect her. Unfortunately, this book really does nothing for me. Would be a cool fantasy /comedy for many readers but I don’t think it is for me.
New TBR Total: 199
Yes! Under 200! I’m starting to feel a little better. Honestly, it does feel good to purge out some books I know for sure I’ll never read. It means that when I log into Goodreads looking for a new read hanging out on my TBR my choices will be more of what I actually want to read. Feels good, man.
What is your TBR looking like?
