WWW Wednesday | April 15

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.

The three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

From Blood and Ash (Blood and Ash #1) by Jennifer Armentrout – I started reading this two days ago now and it is my first Armentrout book. I have pretty mixed feelings about it. So far it feels like a palace intrigue with some magic/fantasy elements added in. Which, you know, is okay. I’m still not entirely invested in the story and am around 35% in. Some of the fantasy elements haven’t been explained well enough for me and I feel like I’m missing the reason for the main character’s existence because I simply don’t understand what the Ascended are. I’m going to keep reading because the writing style is good and it is an easy read but I’m not expecting miracles here.

What did you recently finish reading?

We Hunt the Flame (Sands of Arawiya #1) by Hafsah Faizal – The last month and a half I had been in a terrible reading slump and this book finally tugged me out of it. This story felt real and alive, the characters were varied and flawed, and the I cannot shout about the magnificent character development in this book enough. I love this book and I cannot wait for the next one in the series to come out. Wonderful fantasy novel.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Sword in the Stars (Once and Future #2) by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy – I received this book in the mail just the other day and I was thrilled! Once & Future is a fantastic novel full of LGBTQIA+ characters that you don’t usually come across, the plot ticks along at a good pace, and I love a good Arthurian retelling and this one goes way out into left field. I know when I read this book I will love it and if you are a fantasy lover that hasn’t read Once & Future yet, you should!
