WWW Wednesday | April 22

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.

The three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

There Will Come a Darkness (The Age of Darkness #1) by Katy Rose Pool – I was incredibly excited to read this title when I picked it up. Numerous bloggers and reviewers I’ve come to trust have loved this book and it never once crossed my mind that I would not. But, ahem, JESUS THIS BOOK IS BORING. I’m half through right now and just could not care less about a single character or plot line in this book. Parts of this story are just so convenient to move things along and I don’t feel any tension, stakes, nothing and the fate of the whole world is supposed to be at stake. To say the least, I’m not enjoying this read.

What did you recently finish reading?

Chasing Cassandra (The Ravenels #6) by Lisa Kleypas – Oh look, another book that was an utter disappointment. The leading lady lacked personality and backbone, the leading male did a complete 180 from his set character traits of the first five books…I couldn’t deal with this. The romance was boring, the plot was boring, the characters were boring. Not how I hoped The Ravenels series would wrap up.

From Blood and Ash (Blood and Ash #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout – This was my first Armentrout book and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The writing style was easy to read, there were plenty of plot twists, and the characters were all distinct and interesting. I’m excited to continue this series when she publishes the next book!

What do you think you’ll read next?

The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow – I know, I’m a little late to the game for this book but I’m never one to miss the hype train completely. Every day I see someone in our lovely bookish world talking about this book and while the format it is written in gives me pause, I’m willing to give it a shot. Not to mention that cover is absolutely stunning.
