Normally at the end of the month I do my monthly book haul along with my monthly wrap up. However, this month I’m doing it separately because I simply got too many books this month. Normally I have three or four titles which isn’t too bad at all. June…well, June made my wallet cry.
Total hauled: 10
His Hideous Heart edited by Dahlia Adler – I had been wanting this book for a while but my budget didn’t sing to the price it was listed at. When I found it at a cost I could swing I got very excited. One of my first literary loves was Poe and I am dying to read these modern takes on his classic tales.
A Perilous Undertaking and A Dangerous Collaboration by Deanna Raybourn – I’ve been shouting about this series for years. Raybourn’s Veronica Speedwell mysteries take place during the Victorian era and feature intelligent, interesting characters and mysteries that I never seem to figure out until the big reveal. Love these books.
The Masked City, The Lost Plot, and The Burning Page by Genevieve Cogman – Here is another mystery series I adore but this one has fantasy elements. This story also features a highly intelligent woman who procures specialized books for the Library. The Library houses these books in a world between realms where time has no meaning and their efforts keeps the worlds balanced and from falling into chaos.
Invictus by Ryan Graudin – If you have not seen me talking about this book here at Literary Weaponry then I have to assume that you are new here. Hi, my name is Amanda and Invictus is one of my favorite books of all time. I purchased this particular copy in June as hardcover and I already own the paperback and audiobook. Cannot express to you how much I love this story.
Where Dreams Descend (Kingdom of Cards #1) by Janella Angeles – This book came in the June OwlCrate box. I was highly surprised as this title isn’t set for formal publication until August 25th. Be that as it may, I’m very excited to have it. This book was on my anticipated list for the latter part of the year and I’m hoping to get to it soon.
A Song of Wraiths and Ruin (A Song of Wraiths and Ruin #1) by Roseanne A. Brown – I purchased this book early on in June and while I haven’t been in the mood to read YA fantasy much lately I know that when I do pick this one up I will enjoy it. Sounds like it has all the elements of fantasy that I enjoy and with a completely different setting from the medieval inspired fantasies we are so used to. This is going to be a great book.
Incendiary (Hollow Crown #1) by Zoraida Cordova – This book came in my May OwlCrate box which was not delivered until June which is why it is on this list. Before receiving this in my May box I had actually not heard of it. Looking at the description and the reviews, however, leads me to think that this is going to be a good read.
Even though I went into the month hoping to only add three new titles to my shelves I’m very happy to have these books keeping me company. They are like friends sitting there waiting for their turn to play. What books did you add to your shelves in June?
