September Preorders I’m Excited to Read

In the northern hemisphere, with the turn to September, summer is finally feeling like it is over. Summer is my least favorite season. Being that hot is miserable not to mention there are never that many book releases in the summer that get my excited. But, with the change to cooler weather, my list of anticipated books grows longer!

So far for September I have six books already preordered…that I know of. Honestly, I feel like I am missing one and I’m just not all that sure what it is. I suppose it will be a surprise when it shows up. Despite my lack of memory in this case, I’d like to share the six books that I know will be be showing up for me in September.

Defy the Night (Defy the Night #1) by Brigid Kemmerer – Let me be up front with you folks, I very nearly took this book off my TBR list after I read A Vow so Bold and Deadly. I loved the Curse so Dark and Lonely trilogy up until that point but that book was so bad that I nearly wrote off Kemmerer entirely. However, I am nothing if not a complete sucker for fantasy romance so here we are! This book really does sound like a pretty run of the mill YA fantasy but since I typically like that kind of thing I’m not too bothered by it. September 14

The Corpse Queen by Heather Herman – This one is billed as a YA historical horror/mystery. I absolutely adore a good historical mystery but I don’t think I’ve ever read a YA version of one. Be that as it may, this books sounds so good I’m going to give it a shot. Who am I to pass up a book about grave robbing women in 1850’s Philly? September 14

Iron Widow (Iron Widow #1) by Xiran Jay Zhao – I had the privilege of reading an early copy of this book and it is one of the best things I have ever read in my life. Absolutely adore this book! First of all, it is listed as YA which I think is a load of crap. I would very firmly set this one in the New Adult category but that isn’t popular so publishers aren’t doing that. But we have a kick ass woman protagonist, a moral dilemma, a love triangle, some really cool mech, and the twist at the end blew my socks off. You NEED this book! September 21

The Bronzed Beasts (The Gilded Wolves #3) by Roshani Chokshi – This is the concluding novel of The Gilded Wolves trilogy which not only was blessed by the cover art gods but is a fantastic series. These books have been a wild ride, packed full of action and intrigue and some of the most fascinating characters I have had the honor of encountering. I am very much looking forward to seeing how this whole story wraps up but it is going to be hard saying goodbye to the characters. September 21

Once Upon a Broken Heart (Once Upon a Broken Heart #1) by Stephanie Garber – Did Garber decide to ride the money train by doing a spin off series for the best character in her Caraval novels? Oh yes. But I’m not even mad about it. The Prince of Hearts was the only, and I do mean only, character in the Caraval novels that was worth the ink. Was Finale the biggest let down of any series I have ever read? Absolutely. But I need more of the Prince of Hearts and I’m hoping this book delivers although early reviews are very hit or miss. September 28

Vespertine (Vespertine #1) by Margaret Rogerson – Hi, hello, I adore Margaret Rogerson’s books. Her Enchantment of Ravens is my very favorite comfort read and Sorcery of Thorns gave me the feel goods as well. She very quickly became an auto buy author for me. Honestly, I’m not even sure what this book is about, I haven’t read the synopsis, but I preordered it anyway in pure faith of Rogerson’s writing. September 28…or October 5 I’m finding two different dates for this title.

I know I am forgetting one here that I forgot to write down when I ordered it but that just means that I am going to receive a surprise gift from past me sometime this month. Who would complain about that?

Are there any books you see coming out in September that you can’t wait to grab? Did I miss any preorders I should hop on? Let me know!
