Book Spotlight | City of Dusk (The Dark Gods #1) by Tara Sim

Title: The City of Dusk (The Dark Gods #1) by Tara Sim

Publication: March 22, 2022

Genre(s): adult, fantasy, LGBT, high fantasy

The Four Realms—Life, Death, Light, and Darkness—all converge on the city of dusk. For each realm there is a god, and for each god there is an heir.

But the gods have withdrawn their favor from the once vibrant and thriving city. And without it, all the realms are dying.

Unwilling to stand by and watch the destruction, the four heirs—Risha, a necromancer struggling to keep the peace; Angelica, an elementalist with her eyes set on the throne; Taesia, a shadow-wielding rogue with rebellion in her heart; and Nik, a soldier who struggles to see the light— will sacrifice everything to save the city.

But their defiance will cost them dearly. (Goodreads)

My thoughts:

If you haven’t heard of Tara Sim what rock have you been living under? Her Timekeeper series is just a joy to read, but, it is a YA series. This is Sim’s first (known to me) dive into adult novels and every time I see this book pop up on my feed I just want it more! Necromancers, dying realms, and do I hear the pitter patter of gay angsty romance? Why, I do believe that I do!

Please, we all need this book in our lives. I have my copy pre-ordered.

Tara Sim is the author of the upcoming CITY OF DUSK (Orbit), as well as the SCAVENGE THE STARS duology (Little, Brown) and the TIMEKEEPER trilogy (Sky Pony Press). She can often be found in the wilds of the Bay Area, California.

When she’s not writing about magic, murder, and mayhem, Tara spends her time drinking tea, wrangling cats, and lurking in bookstores.

Tara is represented by Victoria Marini at Irene Goodman Literary Agency.

Name pronunciation: “tar-ah” (not “terr-ah”). (from author’s website)
