Continue readingFebruary is an oddball month. Shortest month of the year, not the same amount of days each year, and you never know what kind of weather you are going to get. Are you going to freeze solid walking to the car or sweat your bum off planting flowers? You just never know.

The three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Continue readingLet us all be honest with each other right now, all of our TBRs are completely out of control. There are books on books on books. You are drowning in books. You finish one and three more seem to pop up as if from nowhere. They multiply. It is like if you feed a stray cat then the next morning your entire yard is filled with hungry feline faces looking at you with disdain and expectation.

“But when from a long-distant past nothing subsists, after the people are dead, after the things are broken and scattered, taste and smell alone, more fragile but more enduring, more unsubstantial, more persistent, more faithful, remain poised a long time, like souls, remembering, waiting, hoping, amid the ruins of all the rest; and bear unflinchingly, in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence, the vast structure of recollection.”
The Book of Lost Fragrances (Reincarnationist #4) by M.J. Rose. I have a great love of M.J. Rose. Every book I’ve read of hers has transported me and touched me. So far, this one has been no different. Some people don’t like her style of writing but it really speaks to me. It can go from short, declarative sentences to lengthy, flowery descriptions. I love these books and her writing.
Uuuuhhhh. I haven’t been reading much, alright? I finished a book that I really loved (Invictus by Ryan Graudin) in January and just haven’t been able to get back into the reading mojo. No big deal, right? It happens, we all have those reading slumps. Hopefully get the vibe back soon.
As Rielle and Eliana fight in a cosmic war that spans millennia, their stories intersect, and the shocking connections between them ultimately determine the fate of their world–and of each other.
Furyborn (Empirium #1) by Claire Legrand. I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of this…just as my reading slump hit. I’m hoping to pick it up and get into the story soon. The early reviews have been amazing so I have high hopes.
That is it for this Wednesday. What have you all been reading?
a journey through the imaginative worlds of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and the Inklings
