We are all very much aware that, so far, 2022 has been an absolute shit show. “New year new me” has turned into the war in Ukraine, new strains of COVID, inflation, and companies still not respecting their employees. My Big Sad and existential dread lead me trying to find some bright spots for far this year.
And what is brighter than escapism? In this case, it took the form of my favorite books so far this year which I thought I’d share with you!
It is only natural that you as a person will like some things more than others. Maybe you like couscous but not rice. Bright pink but not pastel pink. Burritos but not tacos (in which case you are wrong but I will accept your wrongness with grace). You get my point. However, today I tried an old favorite (marinated mushrooms) for the first time in years and I just didn’t like them anymore. Big sad.
The same is true with books. Even if you read books with similar themes there will be some stories you like more than others. Along that vein, I got to wondering if the books I loved in the past would still be favorites for me today.
At the end of 2021 I, quite honestly, got a little overwhelmed. The holidays just hit differently this year and I needed a little break so I took a purposeful step back in December 2021. With that in mind, all of my end of the year 2021 things are coming to you in early 2022! May this year be better than the last two.
However, in 2021 I did end up reading a bunch of great books! Also some real duds but we’ll talk about those later. For now, let’s take a peak back at my favorite reads from 2021.

With the year already half over and my Mid Year Freak Out Tag complete, I got to thinking more about the books I’ve read so far this year. I’m not reading as much as I have the past couple of years, life events sometimes just get in the way, but I have truly read some fabulous books! I wanted to share with you my top 5 favorite reads so far in 2019.
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week they provide a topic and you are free to use that topic and/or variations of that topic to make your top ten list.
